Why hire a personal trainer?

  • To become more familiar with the equipment, hence experience a more efficient in your workout! This translates into meeting your goals and seeing results! Not seeing the results you’d like now? Give personal training a try!

  • To help keep you motivated and challenged! One of the common reasons people abandon their fitness routine is due to boredom. Don’t let this happen to you! Let us show you how to change up your routine.

  • You have a specific injury, illness or condition. There aren’t too many ailments that exercise can’t help. Our trained staff can help you overcome some of your current fitness hurdles and hopefully get back to an active way of life.

  • You’re training for a sport, season or fitness test. You want to stay active and avoid overuse or chronic use injuries.

  • You want supervision and support during your workouts. If you are new to exercise or our facility or perhaps you’re returning to exercise after a hiatus, a trainer can help get you back into the swing of things safely. Let them familiarize you with the gym and perhaps update you on any significant fitness industry changes that may have occurred while you were away!

  • You want to workout at home. Though your training session(s) will take place at the Flex, let your trainer know you are looking for a workout to do at home. We can suggest exercises and programs using very limited equipment, or using what you’ve already got at home.

APPOINTMENTS

All personal training services must be paid for at the Campus recreation and wellness centre front office. Once payment is received, you will be given contact information for the personal trainer you have choosen to schedule an appointment. Clients must complete a Par-Q. If client answers “yes” to any questions on Par-Q, a medical clearance (Par Med-X) is required before the appointment can occur.

CANCELLATION POLICY

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to change or cancel appointment. Failure to provide 24 hours notice and/or show up for a schedule appointment will result in the forfeiture of the appointment.

Training FAQs

  • Do I need to fill out a medical form?
    • Yes. Each client needs to fill out a Par-Q which will be provided when you sign up for your session(s). If clients provide any ‘yes’ answers on their Par-Q, they will be asked to have a Par-Med-X signed by a doctor. A signed Par-Med-X may clear clients for exercise.

  • Are my training sessions transferable?
    • Unfortunately, the sessions you purchase for yourself, are just that, for you. Should you wish to purchase sessions for someone other than yourself, please make the registering staff know to ensure the correct name is on the receipt.

  • How will I know which trainer to pick?
    • You are encouraged to look through the Personal Training binder to find a trainer whose credentials match your goals.

  • Does the Flex offer partner or group training?
    • Given a few provisions, yes we do! In order for group training to be successful for all, we would require that participants share similar fitness levels and goals as the trainer will be writing one program to suit you both. We limit group training to a maximum of 3 so each client can receive the care and attention we like to provide.

  • Is there a deadline for me to use my personal training sessions?
    • Yes. Sessions must be used in a timely manner as outlined below:
      • 1 session cut off is 3 months after purchase date;
      • 3 sessions cut off is 6 months after purchase date;
      • 6 sessions cut off is 1 yr after purchase date

  • What if I can’t use my sessions? Can I still get a refund?
    • We realize that occasionally due to injury, medical and other issues, training sessions will be unable to be used. For that reason, refunds are available as follows:
      • 1 session refund available up to 1 month from purchase date
      • 3 session refund available up to 2 months from purchase date
      • 6 session refund available up to 3 months from purchase date
