Personal Appraisals
What is a fitness appraisal?
- A fitness appraisal is a tool used to determine various aspects of physical fitness and health. The protocol followed at the Flex is the Canadian Physical Activity, Fitness & Lifestyle Approach; a protocol sanctioned by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. The appraisal may be comprised of; height, weight, heart rate, blood pressure, waist circumference, body mass index, body composition, aerobic endurance fitness and muscular strength. You will receive some preliminary instructions and be required to fill out a Par-Q (physical activity readiness questionnaire). This pre-screening process will help clear you for exercise.
Why would I get a fitness appraisal?
- A fitness appraisal is a great way to investigate your current fitness levels.
- Fitness appraisal results:
- provide information to better determine physical activity
- provide key information for fitness programming
- assist in setting desired goals to improve areas of fitness which may require specific attention
- Following your appraisal, you may want to meet with a Flex Personal Trainer to set up a program tailored to your fitness appraisal results and your prospective fitness goals. Additionally, clients can be re-assessed in the future to track progress.
